At the June 20th Committee of the Whole meeting, City Council presented Jocelyn McCarthy with an Outstanding Achievement certificate for her win in the giant slalom, earning the K2 Jay Cup Memorial Provincial Championship.

Jocelyn began skiing at the age of two, and at the age of seven began her racing career with the Rabbit Hill Ski Team. Within two years she was excelling in the sport and winning gold and silver medals in the various races she competed in. In the 2010 / 2011 ski season, Jocelyn had great success, earning the K2 Jay Cup Memorial Provincial Championship which took place in Nakiska in March.

Following this win, she then went on to ski for Team Alberta for the national championships placing 5th. Winning the provincials also gave her a spot at the Whistler Cup where she competed in the Giant Slalom, placing 9th, and
15th in the Slalom.

Congratulations are extended to Jocelyn for her provincial win in Alpine Skiing in Nakiska and to her outstanding finishes in other events that she competed in this season!
