At the June 20th Committee of the Whole meeting, City Council presented the Spruce Grove Blue Thunder Novice hockey team (SG851) with Outstanding Achievement certificates for their undefeated play in the Spruce Grove Minor Hockey Association / Edmonton Minor Hockey Association League Play / Play-Offs and Championships.

Despite being moved up twice (essentially playing in three different tiers) the Spruce Grove Blue Thunder hockey team completed the entire hockey league season undefeated (GP 22 – W 19 – L 0 – T 3). They went on to win every single playoff game to win the championship and become the overall Edmonton Area City Champions for Korbutt Division.

In addition, they were undefeated and won gold at the Edmonton Minor Hockey Week Tournament in January 2011. This has been an outstanding year with the players improving every time they stepped on the ice. The hockey team always demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship and represented the City of Spruce Grove in a proud and honorable manner.

Congratulations are extended to the Spruce Grove Blue Thunder on an incredible season!
