City expanding commuter transit service with additional trips

The City of Spruce Grove will soon be expanding its commuter transit service with three additional trips on ETS Route 560.

Expected to be in place and running by the end of the month, two additional trips will be added to the route in the morning and one in the afternoon.

"We have recently experienced an increase in transit use and while that is good news, it has also resulted in some high volumes on select trips," explains Patrick Inglis, Senior Sustainability Advisor. "The addition of three new trips should address this issue and help us provide an enhanced service to commuters."

ETS Route 560 is an express service that operates during morning and afternoon peak hours. The route includes stops at NAIT, Grant MacEwan University and Edmonton's downtown core.

The City is currently working with ETS to incorporate the additional trips into the schedule and will provide information regarding the actual start date of this enhanced service once available.

The cost of this service enhancement is expected to be an additional $28,540 in 2017 and $163,270 for 2018.
