Municipal census happening from April 6–May 27

We’re counting on you!

The City is counting on residents to participate in this year's municipal census to get an updated number of people who call Spruce Grove home.

The census is happening from April 6-May 27 and residents can provide their census information online or when an enumerator comes to their door.

Door hangers with a designated PIN will be hand-delivered to each household in Spruce Grove from April 6-10. This PIN can be used to complete the census online at www.sprucegrove.org/census.

City enumerators will begin going door-to-door on April 27 to follow up with any households that have not provided their census information online. All census responses must be received by May 27.

Questions in the census, which only takes a few minutes to complete, focus on the type of dwelling, as well the number of residents in each home, their age and gender and where they work. Every person living in the household, including children, should be included when completing the census.

The municipal census is separate from the federal census, which will be occurring in May. It's important for residents to participate in both censuses as the data can impact federal transfer payments and is also used to award many provincial and federal grants.

Information collected through the municipal census also helps the City and council understand how Spruce Grove is growing and plan for services both now and in the long term, including future transportation networks and the locations of parks, schools, utilities and fire protection facilities. School boards, businesses, researchers and other interested parties may also use the statistical data for planning purposes.

Residents who have questions or require assistance completing the census can call 780-962-5634 ext. 254.
