Volunteers needed for City’s Canada Day Celebration

Volunteers needed for City’s Canada Day Celebration

Volunteers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible

Spruce Grove's annual Canada Day Celebration is quickly approaching and volunteers are needed to help run this popular community event on Friday, July 1.

Both individuals and non-profit organizations are invited to volunteer and, as an added incentive, community groups can also earn funds for their organization by registering with the Community Service Partnership Program, which is an initiative that allows groups to donate their time in exchange for a financial contribution from the City. There is no honorarium for individual volunteers.

"Volunteers make great events possible," says Sylvia Gillespie, events coordinator with the City. "We absolutely rely on these individuals to provide a fun and free Canada Day Celebration for the community, and it's a unique way to participate in the event, so I'd encourage anyone to give it a try!"

There is a range of volunteer opportunities available at this year's Canada Day Celebration, including:

  • Pre-event set up and post-event tear down
  • Helping out at the KidZone and AdventureZone areas
  • Working as part of the Green Team (picking up litter, emptying recycle bins, etc.)
  • Monitoring park and ride sites, assisting passengers and providing on-site traffic control
  • Assisting at the information and volunteer tents
  • Hosting the bike valet

Interested individuals and non-profit groups are encouraged to register or apply as soon as possible. For more information, visit www.sprucegrove.org/CDvolunteer or send an email Email.
