Border Paving Athletic Centre now open

City’s Recreation Services staff moving to new facility on Jan. 18

After years of planning and consultation, the City’s new Border Paving Athletic Centre is now open to the public.

Located at 9 Tri Leisure Way, adjacent to Fuhr Sports Park, the facility will be home to the City’s Recreation Services staff effective Monday, Jan. 18. To prepare for the move, Recreation Services will be closed on Friday, Jan. 15.

Other features of the centre, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., include:

  • A Community Resource Centre (called the Rec Hub) where sports, recreation and non-profit organizations can access resource information and connect with other community organizations
  • Meeting rooms and multi-purpose rooms that are available to rent (room availability will begin on Jan. 25, but bookings can be made immediately)
  • Lease opportunities for community groups, including office or program space and filing or equipment storage

Public art and sports memorabilia displays will be added to the centre later this spring.

The Aerials Gymnastics Club are a long-term tenant at the centre and have already started running their winter program in the new facility. The Aerials also have their playschool and administrative office in the space and are offering rental space in their program rooms.

The Border Paving Athletic Centre can be reached at 780-962-7579 or by email Email. A grand opening event for the centre will be planned for later this spring.
