A local playground that is scheduled for replacement will find a new home with children in a developing country.

The Aspenglen playground, located on Grove Drive by the outdoor hockey rink, was removed this week to make way for a new, replacement playground that is scheduled for installation next week.

Rather than have the old playground go to waste, the City of Spruce Grove contacted the Emmanuel Foundation External to see if they would be interested in the equipment. The Emmanuel Foundation has a “Play It Forward” program External where they take donated playgrounds, refurbish the equipment, and install them in developing nations. To date, the foundation has installed 40 playgrounds in 16 different countries.

The City of Spruce Grove is pleased to assist the Emmanuel Foundation with this donation. Not only will local children and families be able to enjoy a new playground, but children in a developing country will also receive the gift of recreation and play.
