RCMP warn about anti-virus scam
RCMP warn about anti-virus scam
Reports of people receiving calls about computer virus
The Spruce Grove / Stony Plain RCMP have received a number of reports from people receiving phone calls from a company advising that your computer may be running slow or may have a computer virus and they would like to help you by going into your computer and removing the virus. Once they have remote access to your computer they can access anything on your computer or place a program to monitor your information and obtain your passwords. The company will also try and get your credit card information for providing this service or by selling you their virus protection.

RCMP are urging people to be careful and to not allow unknown persons access to their private information.
