What We Do
The Economic and Business Development department provides information and services to help local businesses prosper and grow and works to attract new investment to Spruce Grove. These activities include:
- Prepare and implement an economic development strategy to grow the commercial and industrial tax base within Spruce Grove.
- Coordinate business retention and attraction marketing efforts to ensure Spruce Grove continues to offer a competitive environment for businesses and investors.
- Pursue strategies designed to take advantage of Spruce Grove’s strategic location as the western gateway to Edmonton on the Yellowhead TransCanada Highway.
- Work with industrial park developers to attract new investment and identify industries that represent a good fit for Spruce Grove.
- Promote the development of a full range of commercial services for Spruce Grove and the regional trade market.
- Serve as an advocate for the business community within the City administration.
- Lead efforts to recruit corporate sponsorships for City facilities, promote event tourism and attract major events to Spruce Grove.
- Represent the City on a number of external boards and agencies related to Economic Development. Boards include the Greater Edmonton Economic Development Team, Edmonton Regional Tourism Partnership, the CRB Economic Roadmap Working Committee and the Capital Region Local Food Initiative.
