Commercial and Industrial
There are over 1,500 businesses licensed in Spruce Grove. The Spruce Grove and District Chamber of Commerce
has nearly 600 member businesses and takes an active role in working with the City to promote economic and business development. The City contracts with the Chamber to provide Visitor Information Services and both parties recognize the importance of maintaining a positive business climate.
The City has a diverse industrial base that includes agriculture and food processing, oilfield services and manufacturing, heavy construction, transportation, secondary wood products, modular housing, etc. There are currently five existing industrial parks with 257 businesses employing an estimated 2,059 people, and one industrial park under construction. This provides the City with 559.27 hectares (1,382 acres) of available industrial land from which 182.10 hectares (450 acres) are currently developed and fully serviced. The City, as an initiative jointly funded with the Green Municipal fund in 2008, prepared an “Eco-Industrial Plan” which would utilize a portion of this industrial land for a business park modeled on the principles of sustainability.
