Roads, Water and Sewer

The City takes a proactive approach to planning construction projects in Spruce Grove. This ensures maintenance is done on a regular basis to protect the long-term integrity of the City’s roads and water and sewer systems.

Specific projects for 2013 include:

  • Water main replacement in the north part of Brookwood, specifically Brampton Street, Beaumont Avenue, Beechmont Avenue and Beechmont Crescent.
  • Sanitary sewer line repairs where required.
  • Upgrading water metre technology on 150 existing water meters for industrial, commercial and apartment customers.
  • Starting construction of the new Public Works facility.
  • Upgrading the Century Road/Highway 16 interchange, including access lanes leading to and from the interchange. An additional turn lane will be constructed from Highway 16 westbound to the overpass. Major improvements to the bridge itself will be done, including an additional southbound lane into Spruce Grove, providing two full lanes from Highway 16 to Century Road into Spruce Grove.
  • Upgrading Grove Drive from Greenbury to Pioneer Road from a rural standard to a paved standard.
  • Constructing a sidewalk on the west side of Calahoo Road from Grove Drive to McLeod Avenue.
  • Adding temporary planters featuring annual flowers to intersections to help beautify the community.
  • Painting the noses of several road medians to improve their appearance and visibility.

Residents who will be impacted by these projects will receive notification from the City closer to the start of any construction.
