In January 2007, the City introduced residential curbside recycling. Household recyclables are collected in blue bags and put out for collection
every two weeks on your regular collection day.
To ensure quality of materials, please separate paper products from other recyclables by using another blue bag.
Please sort acceptable items as follows:
- Mixed paper - office paper, newsprint, magazines, flyers, phone books, catalogues, cereal boxes, pasta boxes, tissue boxes, and egg cartons
- Clean mixed containers - tin cans, rigid plastic (#1 - 7), clear glass jars, refundable beverage containers, milk jugs and milk cartons
- Shredded Paper - must be in a separate bag or will not be collected
- Flattened cardboard - does not need to be in a bag but must be flattened and placed beneath bags

Buying Blue Bags
- Blue bags are semi-transparent blue plastic bags, the size is similar to a black garbage bag. These bags are a common way to collect recyclables and many bag manufacturers make blue bags. In Spruce Grove, you can purchase blue bags at local retailers such as hardware and grocery stores.
- Recycling meets charitable fundraising at the Winnifred Stewart Association. They sell recycling and garbage bags to raise funds for their programs and services. Click here for more information.
